So your website is up and running, the graphics look great and you are happy with your content. Surely the visitors will come streaming in by the thousands, making lots of money for you?
Wrong! The work is just beginning! With an estimated 200 million plus websites on the internet, your website will disappear if no one knows about it, and if no one knows, no one will come…
The way to let people know is normally by listing your site on search engines, as about 80% of traffic to your website will likely come from search engines. There are other ways of advertising, but they will all cost money, and keep on costing money. The only way to keep a sustained stream of visitors coming to your site is by Organic Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
This is done in two ways:
1) On-site SEO – adding the right content and structure to your site’s pages so the pages are optimised for a specific set of keywords, thereby increasing the overall search engine ranking of your page. This will have the effect of showing your site higher up in search results when searching for the keywords your pages are optimised for.
2) Off-site SEO – creating links to your site, which in turn tells the search engines how popular your site is: More links = Higher Popularity, which in turn means the search engines will rank the site higher, meaning the site is displayed higher up in search results.
If you contract eStart to optimise your site, we will provide the following:
